Roccat targets multi-platform gamers with Roccat Cross headset

While there are plenty of advantages to owning multiple systems for gaming, being a multi-platform gamer can get expensive pretty quickly. However, Roccat wants to help alleviate that a bit with the Roccat Cross, a new headset that replaces the need for a separate pair of cans across PC, console or even mobile devices, all while aiming to offer a high-quality gaming experience no matter which platform you're on.

The Cross headset is an over-ear stereo gaming headset featuring large 50mm neodymium magnet drivers, which are touted as offering ‘studio grade' sound. This is an interesting inclusion as many gaming headsets in the sub-$70 category opt for smaller 40mm drivers instead. The earcups and drivers are specifically aligned to provide maximum comfort and an immersive listening experience.

Roccat has gone with an understated black design, so this headset isn't overly gaudy or flashy. It is designed to provide a snug fit with memory foam earpads that will adapt to each wearer, on top of that, The Cross only weighs 185g, making it one of the lighter gaming headsets around.

In order to provide a seamless cross-platform experience, the Roccat Cross comes with two microphones, one is a boom-arm mic intended for use with PC and consoles while the other is a discreet microphone intended for mobile use and taking calls while out and about.

The Roccat Cross will hit store shelves on the 8th of December with a price tag of €/$69.99. We should be getting our hands on a review unit soon so keep an eye out for our full assessment.

KitGuru Says: The Roccat Cross sounds good on paper, though quite a few headsets are cross-compatible with consoles, PC and mobile even if not expressly advertised. That said, at the $69.99 price point, this headset could end up offering some serious value. Stay tuned for our review coming soon.
