After years of waiting, Microsoft and Square Enix finally announced that the highly popular MMO Final Fantasy XIV would be coming to Xbox consoles next month via an open beta. Ahead of the game’s launch, Microsoft has detailed exactly how the beta will work.
In what appears to have been an accident, Microsoft prematurely published a blog post detailing the upcoming beta for Final Fantasy XIV. While it has since been removed, the post explained exactly how the beta will work, with it functioning very similarly to the pre-existing free trial on other platforms.
What this means is that when it goes live on the 21st of February, players will be able to hop into the game for free without a monthly subscription and can play all of the base game content as well as Heavensward and Stormblood – letting you play all the way up until level 70.
Additionally, all progress made during the beta will carry over to the full release, meaning as soon as the beta goes live you will be able to start grinding out progress.
While Microsoft might have jumped the gun with announcing the launch of FFXIV, getting concrete details on how the beta will work when it does eventually launch is exciting in and of itself.
