CES 2024: Lexar launches its first PCIe 5.0 SSD and other storage devices

At CES this week, we had the chance to swing by the Lexar booth to check out their new line-up for 2024. Aside from new super-fast and gaming oriented SSDs, we also see some new professional storage devices for videographers or photographers.

At CES this week, Lexar is showcasing its first PCIe 5.0 SSD, the NM1090 M.2 SSD with heatsink, capable of delivering maximum read and write speeds of 12,000MB/s and 11,000MB/s. The new Play M.2 2230 PCIe 4.0 SSD is also on the way, designed to fit in newer gaming handhelds like the Steam Deck or newly announced MSI Claw, offering maximum read/write speeds of 5200MB/s and 4700MB/s respectively.

Rounding out the high-performance hardware is Lexar's new Ares RGB DDR5 memory kits, offering speeds up to 8400MHz, making them amongst the fastest available currently.

On the professional side, we saw the CFexpress 4.0 Type-B Card Diamond, offering maximum read speeds of 3600MB/s and a maximum write speed of 3300MB/s, making it one of the fastest cards of its type in the market. There is also a CFexpress 4.0 Type-A Card, with maximum read/write speeds of 1800MB/s and 1650MB/s. If you need something a bit smaller, then the Lexar Professional Gold microSD UHS-II cards are on the way and are recommended for use with GoPros and other cameras. These SD cards have maximum read/write speeds of 280MB/s and 180MB/s respectively, with capacities up to 256GB.

Finally, we also have the new Armour 700, a portable SSD with a rugged design, intended to withstand harsh environments to keep your data safe.
