The Asus ROG G701VI lets you take 120Hz gaming on the go

ASUS is continuing to roll out its new line of ROG gaming notebooks, all featuring new Nvidia Pascal graphics cards. We've seen a couple of different models so far but the ROG G701VI might be the most impressive yet, packing a GTX 1080 graphics card and a 120Hz G-Sync display for ultra-smooth gaming on the go.

The ROG G701VI is a 17.3-inch gaming notebook, featuring either an Intel Core i7 6700HQ or the unlocked 6820HK depending on how much cash you are willing to spend. It can also be configured with up to 64GB of DDR4 2400MHz RAM, so there is plenty of memory to throw at your Google Chrome tabs.

According to Asus, this also doubles as the world's first laptop to feature a 120Hz display with G-Sync enabled and thanks to the power of the GTX 1080, you should be able to put that refresh rate to good use. This laptop also comes with connections to hook up three additional monitors for while you are at home, so in all, it's a pretty solid system all around.

This desktop replacement system also happens to be very thin, measuring in at just 32.5mm thick, which is much thinner than the older ROG G752. There is no word on pricing and availability just yet but expect it to be expensive.

KitGuru Says: I have been looking for a decent laptop to take on the go with me for some time now and while something like this is going to be out of my price range, it is a difficult laptop to ignore, especially with that 1080p 120Hz screen. Are any of you guys looking to pick up an ultra-powerful gaming laptop?

So what? The Aorus X7 DT v6 has a 1440p 120hz g-sync display, a 1080 and is under an inch thick…wheres the news report for that? http://www.aorus.com/Product/Features/X7%20DT%20v6

  2. We can’t write about everything. The simple fact is Asus keep in touch with us and make sure we know about their upcoming products for coverage. We aren’t on the Aorus press list, so I had no idea this laptop even existed. If I had known about it, it probably would have got its own story.

well, you guys can always hire me…anyway, I wasn’t really giving you guys grief, more irritated that Asus made the following claim: “According to Asus, this also doubles as the world’s first laptop to feature a 120Hz display with G-Sync enabled” when, as I’ve shown, not only is it not true, but they’ve also been bested…must be their marketing department, but then again, when has anyone in marketing had integrity or morality? I’d absolutely love if you guys reviewed the Auros X7 DT v6 though, I want to buy it ASAP, but so far there’s not a single review out there which is hard to believe considering it’s the first and only laptop with a 1440p 120hz G-sync display

  7. I have the 1080, have a nice monitor. Why do I care about 120hz? Thats like… 10 times faster than I can see (for animation) and twice as fast as I could notice any flickering… 3 times more han most. Shouldn’t I put my computing power towards something other than refresh and frame rate? Pretty old school article. People have pushed past htz and frame rate some years ago when graphics quality seemed to pretty much top out. I suppose in the scientific community there could be some application?
