Sony automatically refunding those who missed TLOU Part II Remastered’s £10 upgrade

The Last of Us Part II Remastered brings Naughty Dog’s PlayStation 4 swansong to Sony’s current-gen system, adding native PS5 support alongside a bunch of new content. Those who already own the game on PS4 can upgrade to the remaster for just £10. For those who did not realise such an upgrade was available, Sony is automatically refunding purchases.

As reported by Eurogamer, those who purchased The Last of Us Part II Remastered for its full price of £44.99 despite owning the game on PS4 have been contacted by Sony with a message that reads as follows:

“As an owner of the PS4 digital version of The Last of Us Part 2, a digital upgrade to the PS5 digital version will be available at a deeply discounted price on launch day, We don't want you to miss out on that opportunity, so as a gesture of goodwill, we have refunded your purchase for the pre-order of the PS5 version of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered so that you may purchase the digital upgrade on launch day.”

Unlike Steam, Sony’s refund policy has historically been much more conservative, which is why this latest move comes as such a surprise – though a welcome one. Hopefully the company continues to improve its customer support for all games moving forward.
