Aspyr responds in wake of rocky Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection launch

Yesterday, the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection had a very disappointing launch. Players logged into the game to find a low number of available servers, bugs, and an unreasonably large 70GB+ install size. Now, Aspyr has spoken out about some of the game's problems, promising fixes.

Aspyr addressed the situation on its website, saying: “At launch, we experienced critical errors with our network infrastructure. The result was incredibly high ping, matchmaking errors, crashes, and servers not appearing in the browser. Since launch, we’ve been working to address these issues and increase network stability, and we will continue our efforts until our network infrastructure is stabilized to prevent further outages.”

There is no timeline for fixes just yet but more players have had success getting into multiplayer matches. Unfortunately, the connection is often poor, but hopefully that can be ironed out over the next few days.

Aspyr did not address the game's sheer install size, which comes in at over 70GB on PC, something that many attribute to the game's use of AI upscaling. For comparison, the original games take up less than 25GB combined.

KitGuru Says: Were any of you considering the new Battlefront collection before the launch issues came to light? Will you be picking it up when it eventually goes on sale instead to allow time for fixes?
