Deep Rock Galactic spin-off ‘Survivor’ launches in Early Access

Deep Rock Galactic is a fun co-op first-person shooter which sees players working together to mine underground resources in fully-destructible environments, all the while trying to hold back the horde of enemies coming your way. Having sold more than 8 million copies, the team at Ghost Ship Games have decided to branch the IP out to new genres – starting with the “survivor-like auto-shooter” Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor.

Available right now in early access for the low price of £8.99, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is a “single player survivor-like auto-shooter” in which you “wield the full arsenal of Deep Rock Galactic, take on hordes of lethal aliens, mine riches, and unlock powerful upgrades.”

Heavily inspired by the IP it is based on  – Deep Rock Galactic – players will feel equally familiar and new to Survivor, being able to “experience it in a whole new single-player-focused way! Play each mission from a top-down perspective, navigating the caves of Hoxxes as you've never seen them before.”

The early access release currently features 4 classes; 40 weapons; 20 enemy types and 3 biomes – though these will of course be expanded upon over time.

Early reviews have so far been rather positive. That said, it is worth noting that Ghost Ship Games are not the team behind Survivor, instead serving merely as publishers of the title. Funday Games have been tasked with the development of Survivor, having previously released the open-world cowboy-life RPG ‘Don’t Die In The West’.

Fortunately, despite coming from a different team to the original, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor appears to be in good hands.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor? How does it compare to the original game? Are you more excited for Survivor or DRG’s other upcoming spin-off Deep Rock Galactic Rogue Core? Let us know down below.
