ASUS ROG Centurion 7.1 Headset Review

Rating: 8.0.

Over the last few years, ASUS' Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand has developed an excellent reputation thanks to the quality of its gaming products. Today we are looking at the new ROG Centurion 7.1 headset, a premium headset that does not come cheap given its £219.95 price. It does feature true 7.1 surround sound, though – and I mean proper surround sound, not a virtual solution. Let's see if it is worth the money.

It will be interesting to try out the ASUS ROG Centurion 7.1 as it is a true 7.1 surround sound headset – most headsets only support virtual 7.1 due to the added cost of having multiple drivers in each ear-cup. ASUS have clearly cut no corners with the surround sound, though, something that is made abundantly clear by the steep £219.95 price-tag. This price positions the Centurion firmly at the top-end of gaming peripherals. Read on for the full review, including an analysis of the sound quality, software and features.

  1. Asus ROG Centurion or the Turtle beach Elite Pro? Be nice to see a head to head. I’m not a gaming headset fan and personally use a Sony MDR1-A but I tried the Turtle beach Elite Pro while I was in town and I could be persuaded to buy that.

  2. I’m looking for a true surround headphone but it must be cross platform s: PC, PS4 & XBox

  3. My DSP station died after less than 2 months/ got firmware fail and i cant fix it. never buying anything from asus again

  4. Under 2 months it will still be within the 12 month manufacturer’s warranty right? Just open a RMA ticket, I’ve never had a problem with ASUS RMA and they even advance shipped me my last Z170 Gene when it developed a fault. Hope you get it resolved.

  5. You can’t compare them since Asus Rog centurion are real 7.1 surround (5 speaker each side) and Turtle beach and Sony MDR are stereo with surround emulation (virtual surround via software).

  6. Google is paying 97$ per hour! Work for few hours and have longer with friends & family! !mj181d:

  7. I had mic problems from start. Contacted support, upgraded firmware…. Now only front speakers work. DO NOT upgrade firmware. DO NOT BUY ASUS EVER AGAIN.

  8. At least, turtle beach works. That’s what I had before this overpriced junk. “Enjoying” my stereo, 2 speaker, ROG “surround” scam.

  9. Well, i do enjoy my asus rog centurion …
