Sonos becomes the latest company to hike UK prices

Over the last six months, there have been plenty of tech companies increasing their pricing here in the UK, ranging from Microsoft and Apple to Dell and One Plus. Last week, Adobe joined the list and this week, Sonos has announced that its speakers will also be getting a UK price bump by as much as 25 percent due to fluctuations in the Great British Pound's value versus the US Dollar.

These price bumps will come into effect from the 23rd of February, affecting the whole Sonos speaker and accessory catalogue. The PLAY 1 speaker will go from £169 up to £199, the PLAY 3 speaker will go from £259 to £299 and the top of the line PLAY 5 speaker with jump from £429 to £499.

The PLAYBAR and subwoofer will go from costing £599 each to £699 each. Other products like the Sonos Connect and Connect: Amp will also be getting a substantial price increase. You can see the full list, HERE.

Here is the official explanation on the price hike from Sonos: “Our prices are defined regionally. In the UK, this includes local taxation and import duties, but we pay for everything we make in US dollars. Over recent months, there has been a significant change on the US Dollar to GBP exchange rate. As a result, our existing pricing has become unsustainable and, like many other companies, we have to increase prices for all products priced in GBP.”

KitGuru Says: It seems that these price increases are becoming a worrying trend here in the UK.
