LG’s fixed 5K monitors should start shipping out next week

Around two weeks ago, Apple was forced to pull LG's UltraFine 5K monitor from the Apple Store after a barrage of customer complaints. LG's monitor began shipping without proper shielding, making it prone to electromagnetic interference, screen flicker and other issues, none of which you would expect from a $1300 display. Since then, LG has been working on a replacement batch of monitors to replace all affected units, which will finally start shipping out next week.

Apple announced the LG 5K monitor last year alongside the new MacBook Pro and has had the monitor up for pre-order ever since. Units began shipping out in January after a long wait but that obviously didn't last very long.

Now after a short two week break off the Apple Store, the 5K monitor purchase page has been reinstated with shipments currently scheduled to start going out on March 8th. Going forward, Apple will be shipping LG's replacement batch which should come with improved shielding, so hopefully previous issues don't continue to pop up.

KitGuru Says: Hopefully these newly produced units can still function when in the same room as a wireless router. If you were thinking about picking up one of LG's 5K monitors, then you will be able to do so at a reduced price until the end of March as a way of making up for the botched launch.
