Over 80 new Pokémon from the second generation of the games have been added to hit augmented reality Pokémon mobile game, Pokémon Go. Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile are joined by many of their pals, along with Pokémon genders, new encounter mechanics, new berries, a night mode and a whole lot more.
Pokémon Go recently passed the one billion dollar milestone, which shows that despite not being the hot new release it was back in the summer of 2016, it's still incredibly popular. Introducing a tonne of new content alongside second generation Pokémon is likely to bring a lot of players back too.
Alongside the additional Pokémon and genders, players can expect new encounter mechanics and the ability to quickly cycle through balls and berries – the latter of which has two new types. There are new avatar outfits and accessory options and a new nigh-mode map as well.
There is also finally a reason to catch evolved Pokémon, as Niantic has introduced a higher rate of candies for them than their unevolved counterparts. These features come alongside a tonne of bug fixes and text corrections, as well as improved stability on the Apple Watch.
All of this is available right now, with the Android version updated to 0.57.2 and iOS to 1.27.2.
