AOC’s latest AGON monitor makes the jump to 4K and IPS

It looks like AOC is expanding its AGON line of gaming monitors once again, this time making the jump to 4K IPS, combining the Ultra-HD resolution with the better colours and viewing angles of an IPS panel. In addition, with this being a gaming monitor, it also supports Nvidia's G-Sync technology, allowing smoother and more responsive operation with zero screen tearing.

The AOC AGON AG271UG is a 27-inch panel and since it features one of the newer G-Sync modules, it features both HDMI and DisplayPort connections. As for viewing angles, this display is rated up to 178 degrees before colour shift kicks in and AOC's Ergo Dial base ensures you can make any adjustments to height/angle that you may want.

Aside from that, AOC's other techn like low blue light mode and flicker free operation also make an appearance. These options are there to help make the image easier on the eyes and reduce any potential strain.

Here is the full spec sheet:

  • Model AG271UG
  • Display 27″ (68.6 cm) IPS at 60 Hz
  • Resolution 3840 x 2160 pixels
  • Sync technology G-SYNC
  • Signal input 1 x HDMI 1 x DisplayPort 4 x USB 3.0
  • Audio out
  • Microphone in/out
  • AOC Ergo Dial Base (height, tilt, swivel adjustment)
  • Stereo speakers
  • 4ms GtG response time

This monitor should pop up on store shelves next month with an RRP of £699.

KitGuru Says: I'm hoping to make the jump to having two 4K monitors eventually, so the rise in 4K/IPS options is encouraging. Now I just need refresh rates to catch up. Are any of you guys currently considering jumping to 4K gaming?  Would you splash out for an IPS panel, or would you rather stick to TN?
