Leaked design document shows iPhone 8 Touch ID and camera changes

It looks like Apple has settled on a fix for its Touch ID placement problem. Earlier this week, we heard that Apple had been having issues integrating its fingerprint sensor into its new OLED display. To get around this, a newly leaked design document shows Apple moving the Touch ID sensor to the back of the phone, similarly to Android devices like the Galaxy S8 or Google Pixel.

Apple's redesigned iPhone is set to launch later this year, with an OLED display with minimal bezel. With the display covering more of the front of the phone, there was no room left for the Touch ID sensor without moving it or integrating it into the display.

In the image above, you can see a leaked Apple manufacturing document, which was posted online by Sonny Dickson. The image has spread across the web rather swiftly and if real, shows that Apple is planning to move the Touch ID sensor for this particular iPhone.

Aside from the movement of Touch ID, the document also shows that Apple may move to dual vertical cameras, which would be another big departure from previous designs.

KitGuru Says: It looks like we are finally starting to get some reliable leaks when it comes to the next iPhone. It's a shame that Apple couldn't successfully integrate Touch ID into the display itself but having it on the back may not be such a bad move. After all, plenty of Android phone makers have been doing this for a while.
