Quake Champions is entering open beta later this week

Since announcing Quake Champions at E3 last year, id Software has been working away on getting the game ready for the eyes of the public. We've had a couple of rounds of closed beta tests up to this point and now, a ‘large scale' open beta is coming at the end of this week.

Bethesda shared news of the “large scale tech test” today and teased that it will give everyone the opportunity to test their skills against more players than ever before. The test runs from the 12th of May until the 21st.

You do still have to sign up for beta access via the Quake Champions website. However, unlike with the closed beta, you will get an access code right away, so you won't have ti sit around wondering whether or not you got in. On the 12th of May, Bethesda's NDA also drops, meaning those who have taken part in the closed beta can offer up their first impressions.

Aside from all of that, the open beta also brings along a new game mode, known as ‘Sacrifice Mode', which pairs up players in teams of four to battle it out in the arena.

KitGuru Says: I've been looking forward to Quake Champions myself. It will certainly be interesting to see what the wider community thinks of the game once the beta opens up and since we're at the open beta stage, the final release likely isn't far off.
