Back in 2014, Microsoft officially announced Crackdown 3 as an Xbox One exclusive but since then, the company has changed some of its policies regarding console exclusives and has been making more of an effort to include PC in its future plans. As a result, Crackdown 3 will no longer just be an Xbox One console game, it will also be coming to Windows 10 as a ‘Play Anywhere' title.
The team behind Crackdown 3 have been fairly silent since the project's initial unveiling several years ago. However, Microsoft has promised that new information is coming our way very soon, likely hinting towards E3 later this year.
Crackdown 3 being a ‘Play Anywhere' title was confirmed over on the franchise's official Twitter account in reply to fan questions. Given that this is ‘Play Anywhere', anyone who buys Crackdown 3 via the Xbox Live store or the Windows 10 store will be able to play it on either system. This also opens the door for cross-platform multiplayer but that is not a confirmed feature of this game at this time.
Crackdown 3 will indeed be a Play Anywhere title! https://t.co/radWMMG0KT

Aside from confirming that Crackdown 3 would also appear on PC, the team also mentioned that while there is no set release date yet, they are “on track for this year”. If that is the case, then I'd be willing to bet that Crackdown 3 will be one of Microsoft's big pushes this holiday season, alongside Project Scorpio.
KitGuru Says: I'm looking forward to Crackdown 3, though I hope it won't be the only major release coming from Microsoft this year. Did any of you play much of the Crackdown series back on Xbox 360?
Sweet Jesus, another fubar PC release…
