Super Mario Odyssey launches on Nintendo Switch this October

Nintendo's 25-minute long E3 Direct stream just wrapped up and despite it being the shorted of the major conferences, it was full of announcements. Perhaps the most major announcement for 2017 was the release date for Super Mario Odyssey, which Nintendo will be releasing in October for the Switch.

This is the first core Mario game for the Nintendo Switch. We knew that this would be launching during the holiday season but the official release date is now the 27th of October. Nintendo also released a new trailer for the game, bringing Dinosaurs into the fray.

Super Mario Odyssey is being referred to by many fans as a spiritual successor to Mario 64. At the time of writing, the game is being shown off properly on the Nintendo Treehouse stream, so if you're reading this early, you can head over there to catch some gameplay.

Aside from Super Mario Odyssey, Nintendo also has Fire Emblem Warriors, Xenoblade, Splatoon 2, ARMs, Pokken Tournament, Skyrim, Rocket League, Mario+Rabbids and some other games heading to the Switch before the end of the year. The 2017 games lineup is looking quite strong at this point.

KitGuru Says: I skipped out on both the Wii and Wii U, so it feels good to be excited about Nintendo again after all these years. Do any of you have a Nintendo Switch already? Are there any games in particular you are looking forward to this year?
