Overwatch Anniversary event kicks off next week, free weekend also coming up

It has been close to a year since Overwatch finally went live for everyone and during that time, the game has amassed tens of millions of players. To mark the occasion, Blizzard will be holding an Overwatch Anniversary in-game event next week, kicking off on Tuesday the 23rd of May. There will also be a free weekend.

As with most Overwatch events, we can probably expect some special loot crates. However, Blizzard has yet to unveil any specifics about its anniversary event outside of the date. Blizzard also put out the video below going over the milestones achieved during Overwatch's first year:

Aside from the in-game event, Overwatch will be free to play for one weekend, starting on Friday the 26th of May and ending on the 29th. Overwatch is also getting a ‘Game of the Year' edition, containing ten loot boxes and skins previously packaged with the game's collector's edition.

KitGuru Says: I've been getting back into Overwatch quite recently. A year later, the game is still a lot of fun to play. It'll be interesting to see what Blizzard has planned for players next week though.
