Kingdom Hearts 3 to release in 2018, Toy Story will feature

It has been almost 12 years since Kingdom Hearts II first came out and since then, fans of the Final Fantasy/Disney crossover have been eagerly awaiting Kingdom Hearts 3. The game was initially unveiled at E3 in 2013 with no release date but at Disney's D23 expo over the weekend, fans finally got the news they have been waiting for, with Kingdom Hearts 3 confirmed for 2018.

At D23 over the weekend, Kingdom Hearts 3 director, Tetsuya Nomura took to the stage to unveil the latest trailer for the game and announce that Toy Story would feature in the new game. The trailer shows Sora, Donald and Goofy team up with Woody and Buzz to help track down some of the missing toys. They also need to investigate where Andy has disappeared to while taking on the heartless.

At the end of the trailer, the 2018 release window is revealed. Unfortunately, it isn't more specific than that but I would wager that the game won't be coming out until later on in the year. Kingdom Hearts 3 is coming to the PS4 and Xbox One next year.

KitGuru Says: It took well over a decade but it looks like next year, Kingdom Hearts fans will finally get the sequel they've been wanting.
