Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered standalone could launch today

Update: Following on from last month's rumours, a standalone version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare remaster is now looking more likely than ever. This time around though, we have hard evidence in the form of a leaked image, showing the standalone remaster boxed and ready to hit store shelves.

The image was obtained by CharlieIntel, showing a PS4 version of  Modern Warfare Remastered. Right now, there are conflicting release dates, with some claiming that Activision will shadow drop the standalone later today, while others claim the game will launch on the 27th of June. Either way, US retailers already appear to have stock, with some listing the game with a $39.99 price tag.

Original Story: Last year, Activision caught a lot of backlash for tying the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare remaster with the release of Infinite Warfare. Since its release, the only way to play Modern Warfare Remastered is to own the Infinite Warfare ‘Legacy Edition' or higher. Fortunately, it looks like this may be changed in just a couple of months time.

Earlier this week, some new product pages appeared on GameFly, indicating that the Modern Warfare Remaster would soon become a standalone game. Those pages have since been removed but Call of Duty fan site ‘Charlie Intel‘ managed to spot them beforehand.

According to the pages, the game would be launching on PS4 and Xbox One on the 30th of July. If that is the case, then an announcement should be happening fairly soon. The game would presumably become standalone on PC on the same date.

So far, Activision has not confirmed or denied this leak but E3 is in less than a month so perhaps they were saving this announcement for then.

KitGuru Says: Modern Warfare Remastered reviewed very well and would likely have more players if it were released separately from Infinite Warfare. Do you guys think Activision should release Modern Warfare Remastered as a standalone game? Or do you think it's too late?

  5. Ah another up there’ own arse pc user that thing’s they are the be all and end all
Some people can’t use a kB and mouse for these type of games

  6. ya the same kidz that are on Live and PSN ,,,

There 3 essential things pc gamers now a days must have
    1) WIRED high speed Internet connect
    2) 144hz, 1ms 1080p (or higher Monitor)
    3) WIRD Mouse and Keyboard (rocket League is one of the only games where a Xbox Controller is kind of a must)

the rest for the most part doesn’t matter as long as your sustaining the 144fps (regardless of graphic settings.. Its better to have lower graphics setting to keep a higher FPS in MP games, especially e-sport style games

with out the above 3, you’re basically going to have your ass handed to u online all the time.. especially in FPS (CS:GO, R6 siege, Overwatch) ect

if all your doing is SP I guess a any input/output device could work… *shrugs*

  7. There are plenty of games where you don’t need 1ms 144mz monitor how about playing some other then FPS games

  8. games like Rocket League, SC2, LoL, Dota2? ya they kind of need 144hz as well if you wish to not have your ass handed to you..

if all you play are flight sim, NFS, and tomb raider I guess u don;t need 144hz
