EVGA releases $1,000 GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Kingpin

Nvidia’s high-end GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition earned our Must Have award despite its $700 asking price. EVGA’s Kingpin take on the card costs a fair bit more, but promises to pack enough features to try and justify the $300 jump in price.

The EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Kingpin is a custom model specifically built with overclocking in mind. The first thing that stands out is the iCX cooling system, that packs a mouthful of features to keep the card as cool as possible. It consists of an edge-plated PCB with a vented heatsink and efficient heatpipe layout, while the die-cast baseplate and backplate are paired with directed airflow chambers that stem from the trio of fans, helping to disperse heat effectively.

EVGA has added 9 additional sensors that are embedded on the PCB to enable users to keep a close eye on more accurate stats, as well as tweak settings. EVGA’s Precision XOC, a utility that has established quite a name for itself with regards to GPU monitoring, will take full advantage of these sensors. It displays vitals such as fan speeds and temperatures, as well as allowing the adjustment of clockspeeds and set target temperatures.

The card is powered through two 8-pin PCIe plugs, arriving with a factory overclock of 1,582MHz base clock and 1,695MHz boost. The company itself has ensured that the card can reach an overclock of 2,025MHz..

Currently, the card is unavailable, however those who are interested can opt to be notified by EVGA when they come in stock.

KitGuru Says: If the price point is making your eyes water, it does seem to indicate that the GPU will be available on finance, although I'm still just as teary at the $88-a-month cost. What card are you currently running? Do you think you’ll be picking up a 1080 Ti Kingpin?

  1. Well I wouldn’t sell my zotac 1080ti amp extreme for the kingpin. My zotac will happily boost to 2038mhz out of the box and costs a lot less
