The team behind Final Fantasy XV has been teasing a PC version for a while now, we even got our first look at it running back in March. Unfortunately, while there is a PC version of the game running at the Square Enix office, an official release has yet to be announced. However, that may change quite soon, as it turns out that a ‘big announcement' is being planned for Gamescom this August.
Speaking to Japanese site GamesTalk, Final Fantasy director, Hajime Tabata confirmed that the publisher held off on making announcements at E3 this year but plans to announce a lot of Final Fantasy XV related stuff later on in the Summer.
Here is the full quote translated by Siliconera: “That’s right. We’ve been very busy. We must make it so that we can announce some proper good announcements for the summer”, Tabata then went on to add that the team is planning to “share some good information at Gamescom”.
Now there is the possibility that these announcements will just be further DLCs, like the Gladios and Prompto episodes, which have released for Final Fantasy XV so far. However, Tabata has been very keen about a PC version of the game for a long time now and has repeatedly discussed it in interviews before. Beyond that, we have seen the PC version in action and know it exists. At this point, I'd be willing to bet the PC version will show up for a proper announcement at some point soon. That said, I wouldn't expect it to release until 2018.
KitGuru Says: I was revisiting Final Fantasy XV just last night on the PS4 Pro, unfortunately the console can't quite deliver smooth gameplay. However, that shouldn't be the case on a PC, so I am very much hoping that an official announcement is made. Would you guys pick up Final Fantasy XV on PC?
Not sure. I haven’t played the game on console (i don’t have one, nor I will ever buy one), however, judging by the cover, it’s not my type of game. So i don’t really care how good you make it on PC, I’ve written it off.
I would rather go and play a modded Skyrim Burma with Dark Souls difficulty. I don’t like games that hold your hand…
If thats your style of gaming – I can see why FFXV doesn’t appeal. I don’t really care for those type of games at all. I get an hour to play a night if I’m lucky and I don’t want to screw around with getting frustrated with shit.
WTF, judging by the cover? If you’d said judging by 10 minutes of YouTube fair enough but judging by the cover? That is one of the stupidest things I’ve read today. But then again you are the guy who only ever plays Star Citizen aren’t you lol, What an interesting cover ; )
It’s plays perfectly fine on PS4Pro, what are you even on about?!
I haven’t played Star Citizen since 2.6 released, but cuz I came out from Dark Souls and I was looking for bigger challenge, I guess I expect SE to step on it and make some challenge rather than a roller coaster. Oh wait, hold on, cuz every game is a roller coaster for me, if it isn’t Dark Souls type of challenge… I guess the only games that fit into this is MU Online and Arma III.
Yeah the cover, actually i have seen youtube videos for FFXV, and that for me is a cover, since I haven’t played the game (I.e. i didn’t experience it for myself).
I finished the game and I can say although the game kept me anticipated for years, it left me very disappointed. If someone like me, who found everything about the game to be appealing until I actually played it, ended up hating the game, then there’s no way you would like it.
Well, a friend told me something very similar, so yes, thanks for sharing your experience. As this game is already off my list, I have more time to play other games… I can tell you I really do not like the friendly hand-holding. If a game pisses me off cuz it’s stupidly hard, that means it’s a good game…and Dark Souls was one that did it right.
Having tried this on the console (PS4 Pro) I was rather disappointed to find out that the framepacing at 1800p was absolutely atrocious. I am not impressed at all and ended up giving the game away hoping that maybe at some stage it either gets patched (not likely), or the game ends up on PC which would be best case scenario as I have a pretty beefy rig.
I would have loved to play this game, but in truth the framepacing just completely turns me off, and I do not really want to play this game at 1080p stability mode. If the game is not announced this summer I may have to bite the bullet completely and play this on the Pro at 1080p 30fps.
This is taking too long already, where is the PC port of the game? no way I’m getting a PS4 solely to play FF15 and RDR2 these better become PC games too.
