PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds hit the ground running when it was released back in March, with updates big and small coming at a steady pace since. The July update will see implementation of the much welcomed field of view slider as well as dedicated first-person servers.
One of the games developers, Smookie, confirmed the implementation of the FOV slider during a Twitch stream, which quickly made its way to Twitter via @Postyxd. The existence of the FOV slider is directly tied to the game’s first-person view, prompting many to think ahead to dedicated first-person mode servers.
How freaking hyped are we for 1st person. Seem like its gonna be implemented with this monthly patch =D pic.twitter.com/wBxcBxhVjj

PlayerUnknown himself, Brendan Greene has been careful on how he addresses the dedicated servers, stating on the official Discord that it would be a little while longer before players have access to them. “Dedicated first-person servers will take some time as it requires a lot of work from all teams, it’s not as easy as just flipping a switch. Our game, platform, engineering, and gameplay teams all need to do work to make it happen, and they are all quite busy with optimisation work at the moment!”
In a 180-degree move, Greene confirmed that first-person servers will be arriving alongside the FOV slider in July’s update, just two weeks away.
Good news everyone! 1st person servers are coming to @PUBATTLEGROUNDS in our next monthly update! #MakeHardcoreGreatAgain

Following up with more information, Greene states “We will bring 1st person only to EU/NA SOLO & DUO games first, and once we have polished the system, we will expand to other regions.”
KitGuru Says: A first-person only mode in a battle royale game will prove significantly more difficult, acting like a hardcore mode. Are you up to the challenge? What updates would you like to see for PUBG?
