Overwatch is getting two Deathmatch game modes

So far, Overwatch players have had three main game modes to enjoy: Escort the Payload, Control and Assault. Now Blizzard will be adding two more to the list, focussing on the classic Deathmatch formula. There will be two Deatchmatch modes for Overwatch, Team Deathmatch and Free for All.

Usually, Deathmatch is the most common game mode in shooters and is often the most played so it was only a matter of time before we saw it appear in Overwatch. The game’s director, Jeff Kaplan talked about Deathmatch in the latest developer update, which you can watch below:

For now, Deathmatch is being added to the Overwatch Arcade mode, with Free for All and Team Deathmatch both being available. In the team mode, you will be placed in 4v4 squads with the goal of being the first to hit 30 kills. There will also be a new map for Deathmatch modes called ‘Chateau Guillard’, this giant mansion is the family home of Widowmaker.

For now, Deatchmatch is only available in the Overwatch Public Test Realm but the next update should bring them to regular servers.

KitGuru Says: I haven’t had a chance to test out Deathmatch in Overwatch yet but it does sound interesting, particularly with all the different hero abilities. Have any of you tried Deathmatch in Overwatch yet?
