Cooler Master launched its MasterBox 5 case last year, with the updated MasterBox 5t earning KitGuru’s worth buying score back in January. The case has seen yet another update, with the MasterBox Lite 5 RGB bringing customisable lighting and tempered glass in an affordable way.
The MasterBox Lite 5 RGB is an ATX mid-tower case that comes with 3 pre-installed RGB fans placed behind its DarkMirror front panel. A coloured trim surrounds the I/O panel at the top of the case and the front-bottom, each interchangeable with three provided colour options. A black, white and red trim are included in the box, however Cooler Master offers schematics on its website for owners to 3D print their own trim to sync with the colour of the RGB lighting.
The case also comes bundled with a 1-to-3 RGB Splitter Cable and four 4-pin male to male adapters that are certified compatible with ASUS, Gigabyte and MSI motherboards. A compatible motherboard or additional controller is required for full control of the RGB fans, which contain support for ASUS Aura, Gigabyte RGB Fusion and MSI Mystic Light.
The black-coated interior is complete with a PSU cover for clean builds and cable management, allowing users to make full use of the 4mm thick, edge-to-edge tempered glass side panel and show off their build.
Alongside the three pre-installed 120mm RGB fans in the front, the MasterBox Lite 5 RGB allows for a fourth 120mm fan located at the back of the chassis as well as support for 120mm AIO liquid coolers. Cooler Master offers plenty of space, allowing for graphics cards up to a length of 400mm and CPU coolers up to a height of 160mm.
The Cooler Master MasterBox Lite 5 RGB is one of the more affordable tempered glass options, coming in at a price of £64.99.
KitGuru Says: This entry by Cooler Master shows just how accessible tempered glass is becoming in its booming popularity. Are you planning an upgrade soon? What case will you be going for?
Interesting, a youtuber i watch did a review of the regular masterbox lite and he said that they use acrylic that they make look like tempered glass visually. 15 dollars more for RGB fans and actual tempered glass would be quite a bump in quality for such a low bump in price.
