Last year, Sony expanded PlayStation Now compatibility to include Windows PC, effectively paving the way for PC-only gamers to enjoy some of last generation's console exclusive games, like The Last of Us, or Infamous. Now this week, Sony is expanding PlayStation Now even further, with plans to add 50 PS4 titles to the service.
For those who don't know, PlayStation Now is Sony's cloud gaming service, allowing those with a fast enough internet connection to stream games. In the past, the service has relied exclusively on PS3 games and a few older PS2 titles here and there. Now, PS4 games are being introduced into the mix, with 20 coming to the service today and an additional 30 set to be added over the course of the year.
Some of the PS4 games heading to PSNow today include Killzone: Shadowfall, God of War 3 Remastered, Saints Row 4 Re-Elected, Tropico 5, Resogun, Broken Age and Guilty Gear Xrd Sign.
This move also means that there are now more than 500 games available on PlayStation Now on-demand. You just need to sign up, grab a DualShock controller and stream away. The service itself costs £14.99 per month.
KitGuru Says: While I do think cloud gaming itself is a good idea, after watching OnLive fail and seeing other companies struggle to get the technology running properly, consumer confidence isn't exactly high. Have any of you tried PSNow before? How did you end up finding it? It seemed to work well for me when I last tried it, though image quality wasn't great.
Yea you will never see me play a cloud based game as a service or whatever they call it. It is not even the latency that bothers me about it. It is mainly because you have to rely on the internet to play the game if your internet is down and you want to play you are basically hooped be it relies on the internet.
The second reason comes down to money I don’t like the subscription model these types of services have that you pay on a monthly basis or yearly. I like to buy my games once then play through to the end and then have them on the hard drive to play again later. I don’t even buy into the whole DLC crap or season passes stuff.
My idea is if a game is released and then 2 weeks later they start talking about DLC then that content most likely should have been included in the game on release. The season passes is just a money grab and yes maybe you get a bit of extra content at a lower price in the future it is not worth it to me. This is just my own thoughts on this if others like this then power to them enjoy it.

Yea it may be considered modern gaming but we don’t have to play their games the way they want us to and buy into all of the extra cash they want to make from us after the sale of buying the main part of the game. I still think it is shitty on their part to take out some of the game and then try to sell it as DLC content. Most of the games today are very short and take little time to complete because of it not all of them mind you there are still some great games out there. I will never full into the streamed gaming if that ever becomes the only choice I guess my gaming days are over at that point.
Mate, you don’t need to play those games, there are far too many games that are exclusives on the PC platform. If you open Steam and spend a $60 for a couple of games in just 1 sale, then you are set to play the whole of next year.
Let’s be honest, if you want to play every single PC game, then your lifetime won’t be enough for you to fit all the games released through the last 10 years, never mind the new ones.
Skyrim with mods can very possibly take you half to a whole year if you want to complete it + all the content mods out there… Just don’t bother with PS4 games. You are wasting your time. Finish all the good games on PC that you wanna play first and THEN look more.
Yes you are right there are a lot of games out there to play and it would take a very long time to finish every one of them. I only game on PC I do have the older PS3 & X360 but have not turned either of those on in over 1 year I just like PC gaming I guess. Skyrim and the remastered version are great games got both first version heavy with mods remastered version only played for about 2 hours then never went back but intended to at some point.
I’m running PSNow currently. I’ve found it great for blowing through The Last of Us, Heavy Rain and similar single-player experiences. I’ve had very few problems with it, what with high quality internet speeds.
It maxes out at 720p and occasionally stutters or flashes graphical artefacts.. True to the console experience I guess! Either way, it’d be horrendous for any kind of twitch reaction/online gaming type titles, and feels massively sub-par to local PC gaming, as if that’s any surprise. I’d recommend it for what I’ve used it for, but would certainly verify that it’s an imperfect, fledgling technology.
Do you need a PS4 to do this?
It says right there in the headline that you can do it on PC.
The idea of being allowed on PC sounds nice, but the fact that you need internet and cannot render past the limits of the console it was made with suggests polishing is needed.
It comes off as SONY competing with nVidia’s GRID system with Shield console, where everything is prerendered on systems no more powerful as a room full of PS4s.
