Dishonored: Death of the Outsider trailer shows off new powers

Bethesda is bringing back its Dishonored series again this year with Death of the Outsider, a standalone expansion to last year's Dishonored 2. Ahead of its September 15th release, the publisher has unveiled a new trailer for the game, showing off some lethal combinations with new powers and gadgets in the mix.

Much like the original game’s DLC, Dishonored: Death of the Outsider brings back deadly assassin Daud and his former apprentice Billie Lurk. Bethesda’s blog post tells us that things don’t stay quiet for too long as the two are quickly enveloped in a new storm. Stepping into the shoes of Billie, Death of the Outsider pits you in the underbelly of Karnaca as you “investigate mysterious cults, infiltrate underground fight clubs, and even pull off a bank heist as you search for a way to do the impossible: kill a god.”

Bethesda’s newest trailer shows just how merciless Billie can be in ultra-violent, cut-throat action. While the main goal might be to eradicate the Outsider, the player will encounter interesting new enemies, especially as they explore the Outsider's home, in the Void.

Of course, just like all of the previous iterations, stealth is a viable option. Whatever you choose to do, you’ll be kitted out with a “slew of powerful new supernatural abilities, weapons and gadgets,” to traverse the “intricately designed levels” and explore “a wide array of playstyles.”

The blog post goes on to mention “branching pathways and heavy choices that will greatly affect the outcome of your mission,” alluding to the return of the now-standard Chaos system. It seems that Chaos has played a greater role in each game since the first, in which it only affected the last level. Plus, it’s always another excuse to replay the game to experience the different outcomes.

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider will blink into your life and potentially possess you on September 15th, available for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

KitGuru Says: I’m a big fan of the steampunk-inspired world of Dishonored and will surely pick up the game on release.
