ASUS launch new XG line of monitors with Strix XG27VQ

Back in May, ASUS revealed its impressive lineup for gaming monitors due this year, introducing more ultra-wide and 4K models into its ROG roster. Topping this off, the company has announced the ROG Strix XG series, a whole new line of displays that kicks off with the Strix XG27VQ, arriving this September.

The ROG Strix XG line is designed with professional gamers in mind, blending “silky-smooth graphics and gorgeous aesthetics to deliver incredible gaming experiences.” The Strix XG27VQ in particular offers a curved 27” screen with Full HD and a 144Hz refresh rate. Those sporting an AMD graphics card will be able to enjoy Adaptive-Sync via the company’s FreeSync technology to minimise stutter and tearing.

As usual, ASUS has a host of proprietary features included such as the latest Extreme Low Motion Blur technology which works in tandem with Adaptive-Sync to make visuals as smooth as possible. Two more features exclusive to the monitor are ASUS GamePlus and DisplayWidget. GamePlus allows users to assign a hotkey for in-game enhancements such as a multitude of customisable overlay abilities. These include a timer to keep track of elapsed time in-game, an FPS counter or even crosshair options. The DisplayWidget software lets users tweak settings of the monitor or apps included with the display such as the seven presets included in ASUS GameVisual App Sync as well as Blue Light Filter.

ASUS continues its ROG red and black design on top of the visually striking stand, and has included full RGB functionality via a downward facing light and a ring surrounding where the stand connects to the display. The company has focused on personalisation, not only allowing users to customise lighting via profiles in ASUS Aura RGB software, but also providing two ROG logo covers that owners of the Strix XG27VQ can use to create their own unique light projections.

As for inputs, ASUS has included a single HDMI port and DisplayPort, both of which support Adaptive-Sync. Those still running Dual-Link DVI connectors are also in luck with one port included on the rear.

The ROG Strix XG27VQ will hit shelves on the 4th September with an RRP of £409.99.
