Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 to cost more than £850 SIM-free

Back in June, we first began hearing rumours surrounding the Samsung Galaxy Note 8’s price. At the time, we heard that the phone would cost as much as €999 at launch in Europe. Now, we have an even clearer look at pricing, as the Carphone Warehouse accidentally let its listing go live early, ahead of tonight’s Galaxy Note 8 announcement in New York.

The UK-based mobile retailer prematurely confirmed that the Galaxy Note 8 will sell for £869 here in the UK if you buy it SIM-free. This translates to around 950 euros and just over $1100 in the US. I doubt the US price will end up being quite that high but it is clear at this point that the Note 8 will be Samsung’s most expensive phone to date.

If you have £869 to send Samsung's way, then you can expect a phone very similar to the Galaxy S8+. The Note 8 display will be a tad bigger and possibly running at the same resolution but internally, we have heard that the CPU will remain the same. There will be dual 12MP cameras on the back, 64GB of internal storage, a 3000mAh battery and S-Pen support.

So far, Samsung has yet to officially announce the Galaxy Note 8 but it is holding an Unpacked event in New York later today. So we will have final confirmation on all of this in just a matter of hours (from the time of publishing).

KitGuru Says: If the Note 8 isn’t much of an upgrade spec-wise from the S8+, then I’m not sure why you would spend the extra money. Then again, the bigger battery could be convincing and the S-Pen is also quite popular. Are any of you thinking about picking up a new phone this year? What do you think of the Note 8’s price?

Suddenly, the OnePlus 5’s increase in price seems more reasonable.
