MSI launches two new GE Raider 120Hz gaming laptops

This week, MSI is launching a new series of gaming laptops to flesh out its lineup, with two new GE Raider models hitting the market. Both models focus on offering the best gaming display for those on the go, with high 120Hz refresh rates and ultra-low response times.

The GE63 Raider and the GE73 Raider make up this new series. The former is the smaller of the two, featuring a 15.6-inch 1080p display with a 120Hz refresh rate and ultra low 3ms response time. The Latter is slightly bigger, with a 17-inch 1080p display also running at 120Hz but with a slightly higher 5ms response time. Even at that level though, the GE73 is certainly no slouch.

As expected, MSI’s partnership with Dynaudio continues, so you can expect some fairly decent size speakers built-in, which MSI claims can offer 50 percent more volume. Both of these laptops come with space for two M.2 NVMe SSDs and an additional 2.5-inch drive, so there is plenty of room for storage upgrades.

Both laptops come with an Intel Core i7 Kaby Lake processor and can be configured to feature up to 32GB of RAM and either an Nvidia GTX 1050, GTX 1060 or GTX 1070. To keep all of that hardware cooled a new system is in place to provide 20 percent better airflow, four GPU heatpipes, three CPU heat pipes and two upgraded blower fans.

The GE63 Raider and GE73 Raider are available starting from this week.

KitGuru Says: MSI makes some excellent laptops, so hopefully these new GE Raider models continue that trend. Are many of you in the market for a gaming laptop? Would you spend the extra money to take that 120Hz display on the go?
