Red Dead Redemption 2 focuses on story in latest trailer

Eyes have been squarely on Rockstar today, after the developer teased that it was to release information on its upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2. Failing to disappoint, the anticipated prequel now has a story based trailer, while also narrowing down its window of release.

Red Dead Redemption 2 was made official in October last year, shortly followed by its first teaser trailer. In just over 1 minute, Rockstar managed to raise the hopes of fans everywhere, showing off a new and improved look as well as the cowboy chaos that ensues.

All has been quite since then, with the only information being an unfortunate delay until 2018. Thanks to the latest trailer, however, we at least know it will come early 2018, hitting shelves in the Spring.

The trailer follows “the story of outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang as they rob, fight and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America in order to survive,” says Rockstar Games. In the first game, protagonist John Marston was tasked to hunt down the Van der Linde gang and since its ringleader, Dutch van der Linde, appears within the trailer, we are to believe that the upcoming title is in fact a prequel to Red Dead Redemption.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is set to release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, expected to come with an added multiplayer focus thanks to the success of Grand Theft Auto Online.

KitGuru Says: Although some of us were getting our hopes up for a little more information, a story trailer in this capacity makes the title feel all the more real and coming soon. Will you be picking up the prequel to 2010’s hit Western?
