No new Arkham game claims Batman’s voice actor

Although developer Rocksteady left the series behind after a trilogy of games, WB Games Montreal’s spin-off prequel Arkham Origins provided a thread for the Dark Knight to return to the Arkhamverse. Many have expected some form of a continuation, but according to Batman’s voice actor Kevin Conroy, there are no plans for a future instalment.

Kevin Conroy is famous for having portrayed Batman for the longest time, ever since he lent his voice to the 1992 animated series before piping up in Batman: Arkham Asylum. Twitter user and Batman News follower Matt Sifford caught Conroy at Wizard World Comic Con and took the chance to ask him about the future of the series.

“You know, I can’t believe that they’re not going to do another one, but they’re not,” Conroy said. “Isn’t that amazing? They made literally billions of dollars on those games. But, no, there's no plan to do another one. Sorry.”

Another thing Conroy is also famous for is having leaked Batman: Arkham Knight way earlier than the developer intended, confirming after the reveal of Arkham Origins that this was not the game that the studio had brought him in to voice. WB Games Montreal ushered in a mostly new cast for Arkham Origins, replacing Conroy with Roger Craig Smith to portray a younger version of the Caped Crusader.

This could mean one of two things. Conroy is now significantly better at keeping a secret or we unfortunately won’t get to hear his iconic cords in an Arkham game again. This doesn’t necessarily spell the end of the Arkhamverse entirely, though, as the studio could easily bring in other actors as they’ve done before.

KitGuru Says: I am a huge fan of the Arkham series and while I don’t want to see it milked for all it is worth, part of me still wants to see more from it. Would you like to see a new Batman game? Or would you rather see other heroes come to the forefront?
