Gigabyte unveil a range of new Z370 motherboards

With Intel's 8th-generation processors in sight, Gigabyte has unveiled its series of motherboards based on the Z370 chipset. All Z370 AORUS motherboards are performance tuned and host a range of features.

Gigabyte has implemented its Z370 AORUS motherboards with compatibility for high speed RAM, ready for modules rated 4133MHz. Each one contains features like ESS Sabre DAC, Smart Fan 5 and RGB Fusion, to which the company states is “designed for gamers who value powerful, yet highly durable motherboards.”

Pairing the ESS Sabre DAC and the Creative Sound BlasterX 720° software on the Z370 AORUS Gaming 7 allows for sound that Gigabyte says will enrich the experience of music, movies and streaming. This technology paired with Scout Radar will give further advantage in games, obtaining visual cues as to where enemies might be hiding.

Smart Fan 5 includes features such as Fan Stop Technology, which balances the temperature of the components with the excess ambient noise that other motherboards suffer from. Fans will automatically stop if temperature doesn't exceed a certain threshold, similar to that of ordinary PWM. Most Z370 AORUS motherboards also incorporate M.2 thermal guards to help dissipate heat effectively.

RGB Fusion is paired with support for Digital LEDs in either 5v or 12v, compatible with a range of LED strips, arrays and matrices. Two RGB pin headers can be found on the board, with on the top and the other on the bottom to ensure convenience to the builder. This will work with most RGBW products on the market but not all.

Similar to that of Intel's upcoming line of Coffee Lake CPUs, delivering high quality video content is paramount, with AORUS motherboards outputting 4K UHD and uninterrupted streaming to users through the use of its HDCP 2.2 Technology, a HEVC 10-bit decoder and a VP9 hardware decoder.

Gigabyte's Z370 AORUS boards meet the standards of the California Energy Comission (CEC), rated as low power and high efficiency motherboards. This is due to its use of new VRM and PWM technology enabling the board to drive 60 amps per power phase. When being combined with server-grade 10K Ultra Durable Black capacitors, the company has managed to reduce electrostatic charge on the PWMs, which in turn improves effieciency between it and the CPU.

KitGuru Says: It's an impressive range of boards that will hopefully manage to help the company get back on track. What do you think about Gigabyte's new offerings? Do you plan on upgrading soon?

  1. Wicked, gaming 7 looks awesome.

  2. So far it looks like I’ll be buying the Z370 gaming 7. I just don’t get why they got rid of the 9, replaced it with the Ultra, then subsequently made the Ultra worse than the 7. Very confusing naming scheme

  3. I’d love to see some gaming motherboard and intel CPUs that have more PCIe lanes. I don’t want to spend $1200 on a processor and $500 on a motherboard just to get a fast processor with 40 pcie lanes.
