Square Enix promises to fix FFVII Rebirth’s performance mode visuals

Square Enix recently released a demo for the highly anticipated Final Fantasy VII Rebirth to much excitement. Unfortunately, fans noticed that the game’s performance mode included greatly degraded image quality. Fortunately, Square Enix have announced a fix for the demo – as well as the final release.

Taking to Twitter, the official FFVII page announced that “the update to the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo scheduled for February 21st will apply improvements to the visual quality when selecting ‘Performance Mode’ from the graphics options. The same improvements will also be applied to the full game.”

For the uninitiated, FFVII Rebirth includes both a graphics and performance mode – with the former targeting 30fps and the latter 60.

Unfortunately, despite analysis from Digital Foundry confirming that the game runs at a relatively high resolution even in its performance mode, the game’s post-processing (among other effects) contribute to it looking significantly softer than it should. It is therefore encouraging to see this being fixed ahead of the game’s full release.
