Rockstar tease Red Dead Redemption 2 news for next week

Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most hotly anticipated games in recent years, so much so that the title is competing against other big hitters for the title of “Most Wanted Game” in this year’s Golden Joystick Awards. Those of you patiently waiting might want to mark your calendars for the 28th September, as developer Rockstar has news to share.

To give perspective, the Golden Joystick Award for Most Wanted Game is currently being fought for by legendary series such as Beyond Good and Evil 2, Metroid Prime 4 and The Last of Us Part II as well as newcomer IPs like Death Stranding and Sea of Thieves. These are cherry picked titles, of course, as the remainder of the category is filled by Call of Duty: WWII, Far Cry 5, God of War, Metro Exodus, Ooblets, Star Wars Battlefront II and Insomniac’s Spider-Man, which I am personally excited for.

Although the seven-year wait for Red Dead Redemption 2 isn’t quite as long as the ten-year wait for Metroid Prime or the whopping fourteen-year wait and counting for Beyond Good and Evil 2, it is still one of Rockstar’s most beloved series.

PC users missed out on the first Red Dead Redemption, and although the sequel has only been announced for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, many are still holding out hope for a Windows release as the developer hasn’t explicitly stated against such an idea. Some are hoping that this might be what appears in the announcement come September 28th, but we are more than likely in store for a story trailer or, perhaps more exciting, a possible launch date for the title after its delay to 2018.

Tune in on September 28th at 8am PT / 11am ET / 4pm UK to find out more.

KitGuru Says: Honestly, can we be greedy and just get all 3; the announcement of a PC release, a story trailer and a launch date? What do you want to see out of the upcoming announcement? And which title do you think deserves the Golden Joystick Award for Most Wanted Game?
