Star Wars Battlefront II’s campaign trailer is really good

While DICE’s first shot at taking on the Star Wars Battlefront series was entirely multiplayer focussed, this time around the team has dedicated time to creating a campaign- one that ties in to Star Wars cannon and tells an original story. While EA showed very little of the campaign at E3 this year, a full single-player trailer was released earlier today and so far, it looks very good.

The trailer stars ‘Iden Versio’, the leader of ‘Inferno Squad’, the Empire’s special forces group. The campaign kicks off right after the Empire’s defeat at the end of Return of the Jedi and follows Inferno Squad’s next steps. The trailer is around 1:50 in length and while it is all cinematic footage, it is an exciting first showing for EA’s first single-player Star Wars story.

Unfortunately, this news is somewhat bittersweet, as EA did shut down Visceral Studios yesterday. This also means that EA is scrapping what was Amy Hennig’s Star Wars game, in favour of creating a ‘broader experience’. With that in mind, this might be the only single-player Star Wars campaign we get for the next few years.

KitGuru Says: The trailer for Battlefront II’s campaign looks awesome but I have a feeling that it will end up being very short. Then again, that isn’t too uncommon amongst big budget shooters these days. What do you guys think of Battlefront II’s campaign trailer? Has it swayed you into giving it a go, or will you be sitting this one out?

  1. Is the trailer awesome? Yes. Did I get goosebumps? Yes. Will I wait until the reviews are in to see if it’s actually any good? Obviously.

It clearly has great potential. But if it’s a lousy 4 hour campaign, than I’ll wait for the budget version of the game.
