Alienware has dabbled in PC gaming accessories for a long time now but for the most part, the company has stuck to desktops, laptops and the occasional mouse or keyboard. This year that is changing, as Alienware is launching two 34-inch Ultra Wide gaming monitors, both sporting G-Sync, ultra fast refresh rates and more.
There are two different versions, one is a 34-inch 2560×1080 monitor with G-Sync and a 160Hz refresh rate. That resolution won't look too sharp at 34-inches but the 160Hz refresh rate isn't anything to scoff at, though it may be usurped next year when Acer's Predator X35 hits the market with a 3440×1440 resolution and 200Hz refresh rate.
In any case, Alienware is also offering a 3440×1440 version of this display, also featuring G-Sync but bumping the refresh rate down to 120Hz instead. Both monitors have a 4ms response time, built-in lighting to shine down on your desk and a height adjustable stand.
The 1080p ultrawide will set you back $1,199 while the 1440p ultrawide sits at $1,499.
KitGuru Says: Price wise, these monitors don't represent the best value but it is good to see more companies banding together to flesh out the high refresh rate ultrawide monitor market. Refresh rates appear to be improving too, last year the best we could hope for was 100Hz at 3440×1440, now companies are pushing well beyond that.ย
I gave about the same about of cash for my Acer XR382CQK. It is a FreeSync, Ultrawide IPS 75Hz on 3840×1600. I think it is worth it ๐
I just chose a AOC AG322QCX which I picked up in a flash sale for just over ยฃ430, it’s Freesync (I wont use now but who knows in the future) 32″ 2560×1440, VA ( I hate IPS glow and ditched an IPS) and 144hz. With my GTX1080 in PlayerUnknown and a few other current games I’m seeing around 100fps but with the driving games I play I’m getting that full 144fps.
I love that monitor you chose but what influenced your choices? Monitor choosing is such a nightmare?.
I wonder why both acer and aoc have gone with this stupid naming… I can’t even memorize half of it.
Well considering that alienware = dell and dell monitors are from good to great, they will probably be nice.
Yeah its not exactly memorable is it, not like you could research it at home and walk into the shop and say i’ll have the AOC AG322QCK. They should have went with AOC F32-2K-VA-144………or AOC Freddy, yup I like that better, they should give them all dead simple names so you can walk in the shop and say ‘Shopkeeper hand me one of those great big AOC Freddies please’.
Don’t you find that with most PC stuff though, they make it sound a whole lot more complicated than it really is.

Yes it is a nightmare. But let me tell you, I’ve never seen IPS glow ๐ my sister has IPS panel (old one) and I have as well. BOTH look really good. Now, what I hate about the VA is that color shifts when looking at an angle and saturation. Yes deeper blacks is nice, I would prefer accurate colors.
So, what inspired me to buy this extremely massive 38″ IPS beast is the fact that it is really good for both gaming and workflow. Spread your work around – there is enough space for it, and that in my case is Unreal Engine 4, Visual studio and the web browser. I can do without HDR. This is the monitor that meets gamer with professional. The LG 38″ has too much input lag (24ms measured by TFTCentral) – not good for high end, fast paced gaming. The Acer has 14ms max (measured by PCGamer) – which is just close enough to pro-gamer monitor.

no you are right, but have you ever seen a crap monitor from dell? There is not.
The other companies make monitors from 0 up to hero, but dell deliver only good monitors, so they have made a name of themselves in monitors and there is trust in their name.
Actually… I own one. It’s so shitty, I use it as a monitor for my server cabinet. They certainly DO distribute crap monitors – just like any other company. It’s always the same. You DON’T get what you DON’T pay for, after all.
I mean… The color is washed. It has faded over time as well. The resolution – I’ve often wondered if it was actually putting out the resolution the model claims, it’s so unclean. I’d take a picture of it if you insisted. LOL
You see… Dell does NOT manufacture the panels. They DON’T manufacture the monitors themselves. Third parties who DO are shared by multiple OEMs.
THAT’S where it gets simple, my friend. ๐
I’ll grant you this, though. Though Quanta manufactures their servers, Dell’s server products are TOP-NOTCH. (Though they have caused us plenty of heartache with firmwares in the data center. Hehehe…) I prefer Dell servers over all.
It’s quite ironic that I have Dell servers in my own cabinet here at home and yet I have one of the shittiest monitors I’ve ever seen – bearing the same logo. LOL
really? what model is that monitor? so far I have seen dell getting LG panels and making them in monitors that LG only can dream to make themselves, so I have them in a good prospective regarding their monitors.
I sport for the last 5 years the U2312HM and it was unbelievable for its time and still hold it’s ground
I use it for graphic design and color is critical for me, but it is a killer in gaming too, as far as I know the input lag of this monitor is not beaten from another IPS yet.
