PUBG delays vaulting and climbing in test servers

Players of PUBG have been looking forward to the impending vaulting and climbing mechanics since they were teased back at E3. While these abilities are close to being finalised, it seems the test servers are not, resulting in a delay.

Then-developer Bluehole showcased a significant update on progress for the mechanics in August, not only displaying the smoother animations, but the physics behind them. Vaulting in particular is determined by the velocity at which the player tackles an obstacle, resulting in a range of slower to quicker movements. Climbing also gives a greater range of environmental advantages, allowing players to gain extra boosts off of other players or by placing objects before jumping.

Unfortunately, these mechanics will be delayed a little longer, with the official PUBG Twitter stating: “When the test servers are deployed, we will be running them for a long time and it’s crucial that they operate in a stable environment. Therefore, we feel that we have to delay the first test schedule for PC 1.0 to allow for a smooth testing of the new features and content.”

As of yet, it is currently unknown as to how long this delay will last or when the next proposed date of release for the mechanics will be. “We are doing our best to resolve the issue quickly and we will announce the schedules once it’s resolved,” concludes the PUBG Twitter account. “Thank you for your understanding.”

Of course, these mechanics are still planned to be in the game before the final release onto console on December 12th and out of Steam’s Early Access sometime in the same month.

KitGuru Says: There is an exploit that people can use to somewhat reproduce vaulting in a clunky way, by crouching and jumping before an obstacle. Hopefully this will keep players going until official vaulting sees its release. Are you looking forward to vaulting, climbing and flipping in PUBG?
