Protecting your keyboard from general wear and tear over time is no easy task and no matter how hygienic you are, your keycaps tell the story. Corsair is hoping to help with this, launching its Premium Gaming PBT Double-Shot Keycaps Kit to combat fading and shining.
Usually, mechanical keyboards ship with more cost-effective ABS caps that with their thinner body and often painted finish make them cheaper and prone to eventually glisten despite rigorous cleaning habits. PBT keycaps, however are denser and matte, sporting a textured finish that helps them retain their tactile feel for longer.
“Corsair double-shot keycaps are formed in a special two-shot mold process to ensure long-lasting durability and performance,” explains Corsair. “Unlike traditional keycaps which are painted and then etched, the lettering on double-shot keycaps is physically molded into the body of each keycap, with two interlocking pieces combining to ensure that they will never fade or become illegible over time.”
Currently, the Double-Shot keycaps officially support Corsair models K95, K70, K65, K66, K63, and Strafe, however for those wanting to chance it, they potentially fit other board sporting Cherry MX Key Switches. Lighting enthusiasts need not worry as the process doesn’t impede on lighting at all.
Currently Corsair is offering the Double-Shot keycaps in full sets of black and white for a price of $50 each.
KitGuru Says: The Double-Shot keycaps would be perfect in a job that requires a lot of typing, editing or, of course, gaming. I might have to pick some up myself. Are you interested in Corsair’s new accessory? Do you prefer the black or the white keycaps?
