Bluehole is returning to MMOs with Ascent: Infinite Realm

At this point, Bluehole has made quite a name for itself in the gaming space, particularly with the success of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Since launching on Steam Early Access in March, PUBG has gone on to sell 20 million copies worldwide. Behind the scenes though, Bluehole has been working away on another game- a new MMORPG called ‘Ascent: Infinite Realm'.

Ascent: Infinite Realm is currently being developed by Bluehole and will be published by Kakao Games, the same publisher behind Black Desert Online. The announcement was made earlier today, with a five minute debut trailer, which you can check out below:

Ascent: Infinite Realm, or AIR for short, will enter beta during the first half of 2018. Judging by the trailer, the game seems to feature a mashup of fantasy and futuristic elements, with monsters, magic, swords+shields, air ships and mechs. One of the game's big features will be “realm VS realm combat”, which is PvP focused and aims to provide “the ultimate battle experience”.

Bluehole initially got its start in the MMO genre with Tera Online, which was largely well received at launch in 2011. With AIR, we will hopefully see Bluehole expand beyond its past success and deliver something that can push the MMO forward.

KitGuru Says: Bluehole is no stranger to MMOs, so hopefully AIR will shape up to be great. The MMO landscape could use some fresh blood. Have any of you been looking for a new MMO to sink your teeth into? What do you think of AIR so far?
