Helldivers 2 just launched for PC and PS5, delivering one of the most fun co-op shooters we've seen in years. Right now, the game is focused on PvE only and if you were wondering if that might change in the future, then look no further.
Following the success of Helldivers 2, there has naturally been some demand for a PvP mode, as many shooter fans are always looking for a competitive angle. However, Arrowhead CEO, Johan Pilestedt, has responded to these suggestions, stating that they will never add a PvP mode.
Hey; We'll "never" add a PvP-mode. This is to reduce toxic elements from the community.
We want an environment that's supportive, fun and where we all are fighting on the same side!

It would seem that Arrowhead thinks PvP would foster a toxic side to the community. By focusing on PvE content, Arrowhead wants to create an “environment that's supportive, fun and where we all are fighting on the same side”.
So if you were hoping for a PvP mode in Helldivers 2, then you'll be out of luck. Although that doesn't mean Arrowhead wouldn't potentially explore a PvP focused game at some point in the future, it just won't be for Helldivers.

KitGuru Says: Helldivers 2 is great co-op fun with lots of potential for clippable moments. I do agree that PvP kind of goes against the spirit of the game a bit, but I also don't think PvP necessarily has to lead to toxicity, although it often has for many of the top competitive games, from Call of Duty and League of Legends to Counter-Strike and even Overwatch.
