Capcom has been an early supporter of Apple’s push to bring AAA games to iPhone and Mac. We’ve already seen the likes of Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village on iOS and macOS. Now, Capcom is bringing over Resident Evil 2 Remake.
Resident Evil 4 Remake also launched on iOS last year. Now, Capcom is going back a bit further to bring Resident Evil 2 to iPhones, iPads and Macs. Resident Evil 2 Remake first released in 2019 and quickly became a hit and earned several Game of the Year nominations.
As with Capcom’s other iOS and Mac games, a free version will be made available, providing a demo-sized slice of the game. After that, you’ll have to pay full price to unlock the rest of the game. To avoid exploits allowing the full game to be played without paying, Capcom recently updated all of its iOS games with a required online check-in at start-up.
At this point, a good selection of AAA console games are available to play on newer iPhones and iPads, as well as M-series powered Macs. However, sales estimates point to very low numbers for these titles. Assassin’s Creed: Mirage is thought to have sold fewer than 6000 copies on the App Store. Resident Evil 4 is estimated to have sold less than 15,000 copies, and Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding is estimated to be at around 20,000 copies sold.
