PlayerUnknown shares four more shots of Battleground’s desert map

Bluehole and PUBG Corp. have a lot on their plate at the moment, as PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is gearing up for its Xbox One release, but that hasn’t slowed progress on other features that were promised earlier in the year. PUBG’s desert map looks to be coming along nicely, as creator Brendan Greene shares four new images with fans.

Greene revealed the map back in July, showing off distinctly flat terrain to counter the game’s current map, Erangel. We got our second look in August, where it was revealed the map would be just as big, sitting at 8×8 km.

While the new images are still a work-in-progress, the desert map looks to be a lot more built-up than we’d previously seen. Larger buildings have proven a particular hardship for the team, as giving access to too many vantage points could unbalance the game. This looks to have been countered by placing buildings at various stages of construction, as indicated by the cranes.

The main streets themselves carry a lot more detail, such as lower shopping areas versus higher residential areas in ruin. Perhaps more interestingly, we can also see the more desolate canyon areas as well as a prison surrounded by greenery.

Overall, these new shots can reassure those looking ahead that they will eventually have a brand new playground with various different types of terrain to explore.

KitGuru Says: Hopefully with the upcoming climbing mechanic, players will also be able to scale the higher canyon rocks. That being said, any advantage gained by being higher will automatically become a disadvantage when trying to get back down again. Do you think the desert map will mix things up?
