Thermaltake unveils Core P90 open-frame case

While tempered glass cases are currently the ‘in thing’, open-frame cases are still somewhat few and far between. Thermaltake continues to expand its Core brand to include the P90, retaining the hybrid open-frame and tempered glass approach while changing up its shape.

The unique triangular prism shape of the Core P90 is designed to give components room to breathe instead of cramping them all together. Of course, the open enclosure relies on ambient airflow in comparison to the active airflow found in closed cases. This becomes particularly problematic for overclocked systems, however ordinary systems can fair well to varying degrees.

Two of the three compartments are covered by 5mm thick tempered glass panels to ultimately display components from every angle. The Core P90 can be placed in three different position; standing upright on its rubber stands, laying down horizontally or mounting to the wall.

Of course, being an open chassis, almost every bit of the Core P90 is customisable and removable, but it ships with 7 modular drive bays for 3.5” or 2.5” devices and the ability to mount the GPU and PSU vertically, provided that the user has riser cables.

As this is the type of chassis that warrants elaborate water cooling solutions, Thermaltake has made room for two all-in-one or DIY radiators on the right hand side, one up to 480mm and the other 420mm. If air cooling is still your thing, however, CPU coolers up to 180mm high will fit.

Pricing and availability are currently unknown, but the Core P90 is listed on Thermaltake’s website now.

KitGuru Says: This is the type of system I would go for provided I had the money for full water cooling, otherwise I’d feel like the system might be a little too loud for my purposes. Do open-frame cases appeal to you? What do you think of the Thermaltake Core P90?
