Valorant datamine reveals plans for multiplatform release

After spending years in the competitive PC FPS space with little to no competition, Counter Strike found an equal in the form of Valorant; the latest title from League of Legends makers Riot Games. Having grown over the course of the past few years on PC, Riot Games look set to bring Valorant to more PC platforms – as well as consoles.

As reported by Kingdom Laboratories, in datamining Valorant the content creator took to Twitter to reveal recently-added strings which suggest that the game could be coming to plethora of new systems.

If true, Valorant could be set to come to PlayStation; Xbox; Nintendo Switch; Linux and even iOS/Android.

As with many competitive shooters, Valorant requires very little hardware to play, being able to run on integrated graphics – meaning a Switch and even mobile port should not be out of the realm of possibility.

That said, competitive FPS games like Valorant have historically been PC-centric with a focus on mouse and keyboard controls. Riot’s shooter is no different, with the game not supporting controllers in any official capacity.

Considering the fact that this multiplatform release will seemingly be launched with crossplay support, much work will have to be done in order to ensure matches are relatively fair and balanced. We will have to wait and see whether this ultimately pans out.
