Dragon’s Dogma 2 patch promises to fix many massive issues

After a great deal of excitement, Dragon’s Dogma 2’s launch was hampered by a great number of controversies both surrounding the game’s monetisation as well as its graphics/performance. While the former does not appear to be changing, Capcom have promised a bunch of fixes for the game’s visuals and performance.

Making the announcement on Twitter, Capcom revealed their current and immediate plans for Dragon’s Dogma 2, saying “We're planning to release patches including the following updates and fixes in the near future, and will release them as soon as they are ready for distribution on each platform. Thank you for your patience and support!”

While not extensive, the list of changes include a number of notable and much-requested fixes, including:

  • A new motion blur toggle on PS5 and Xbox
  • Adding the option to switch ray-tracing on/off on consoles
  • Ability to lock console frame rates to 30fps or leave it uncapped
  • Improved DLSS quality on PC
  • Other miscellaneous fixes

While certainly focused on the console versions currently, adding the option for a 30fps cap was a must – especially with Dragon’s Dogma 2’s wildly inconsistent frame rates currently.

Furthermore, while motion blur is typically an aesthetic choice, the option can cause motion sickness for some, and so the ability to disable it is welcome.

While this upcoming patch will fix some of the most notable issues, Dragon’s Dogma 2’s poor monetisation remains a sore spot. Hopefully Capcom will also make some changes to this system soon.
