Overkill's ‘The Walking Dead' game was announced all the way back in 2014, with just a few small nuggets of information coming out since then. While the game was originally supposed to come out in 2016, it looks like Overkill has settled on an ‘Autumn 2018' release window now, with more information on the project finally coming to light.
Overkill's ‘The Walking Dead' is going to be somewhat similar to the Payday games. There will be four playable characters in the game, with a focus on co-op gameplay. You will be fighting against zombies and humans alike throughout Washington D.C with the goal of strengthening your base camp.
A new trailer for the game highlights one of the game's new characters, Aiden:
Overkill has said that each of the four playable characters will have their own skill trees, story arcs and special abilities. The game will support different play styles, so you can choose to silently take out enemies, or charge in guns blazing.
The game itself takes place shortly after the undead take control, leaving survivors to try and figure out what happened. That's all we know for the time being, but we can expect to learn more in the coming months as we get closer to release.
KitGuru Says: We've been hearing bits and pieces about this game for years, so it's nice to finally get some solid details about it. Hopefully after E3, we'll have a better idea of what the game is all about and when to expect it.
I am really looking forward to this game!
