G.Skill launches 2017’s fastest 64GB SO-DIMM memory kit

2017 has been a kind year to memory manufacturer, G.Skill which has managed to bag the “world’s fastest” title on numerous occasions. The year isn’t over yet, however, as G.Skill has now bagged itself the accolade for the world’s fastest 64GB SO-DIMM kit.

Its latest 64GB SO-DIMM memory boasts high capacity and frequency while keeping its timings as low as possible. Sitting at a pretty 3466MHz speed, its timings are just CL17-17-17-37 at 1.35V across four 16GB sticks.

Of course, as usual, G.Skill has chosen to work with the rigorously hand-selected Samsung B-die DDR4 IC components, to ensure that this power is brought to small form factor without sacrificing speed.

G.Skill has tested the kit in-house over six hours, paired with an Intel® Core™ i9-7900X processor on ASRock’s X299E-ITX/ac mini-ITX motherboard. Using the AIDA64 memory benchmark, the company managed to squeeze 95231MB/s read, 94856MB/s write, and 90639MB/s copy out of its new 64GB CL17 kit, helped in part due to its utilisation of Intel XMP 2.0 technology for overclocking.

At this point, G.Skill dominates the SO-DIMM world, having topped its own record for world’s fastest 32GB SO-DIMM kit, increasing speeds from 3800MHz to 4000MHz early this month. Its timings currently sit at CL18-18-18-38 at the same 1.35V.

KitGuru Says: If you want speed, there’s nowhere else to go until another memory manufacturer contests the title. Corsair has been giving G.Skill a run for its money, which is brilliant as it keeps all companies on their toes – a win-win for customers. Unfortunately, the price of RAM isn’t set to fall just yet, however. Do you plan on upgrading your RAM any time soon?
