Star Wars Battlefront II launches its Resurrection DLC inspired by The Last Jedi

Ahead of Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s silver screen debut, EA has launched its first chunk of DLC for Battlefront 2 inspired by the film, titled Resurrection. While the content won’t contain spoilers, it does contain characters, locations and vehicles from the upcoming movie.

Set to further fill in the big gap between Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Battlefront II Resurrection allows players to pick up where they left off in Iden Versio’s shoes. These three new chapters begin after the end of the main campaign, documenting Versio’s journey as she uncovers further secrets that lead up to Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

As for its multiplayer, players will now get the ability to jump into battle as Finn for the Resistance and Captain Phasma as The First Order’s new villain. Two maps straight out of The Last Jedi make an appearance, with the red-dust-world of Crait offering 20-versus-20 Galactic Assault matches and the space around the planet D’Qar giving way to 12-versus-12 a new Starfighter Assault.

Star Wars Battlefront II Resurrection will make players choose between the light and the dark side as a part of The Last Jedi Season. This is linked to the challenges that players will receive and the rewards gained based on individual and faction performance.

Existing content is getting balanced, particularly with hero buffs from Lando, Emperor Palpatine and Chewie, as well as Boba Fett, Yoda and Rey tweaked so as to not cause problems. The Flame Trooper also gets a bit of a tweak, reducing the class’ damage over time effect, but increasing its direct damage.

So if you’ve seen The Last Jedi trailers, you should be all good for this DLC, however if you want a totally blind experience then it’s preferable to wait until after you’ve seen the film. It’s also worth noting that Resurrection is a somewhat sizeable piece of DLC at 9.79GB, so make sure to start that download as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, I’m still waiting for the film to release not only to get the freshest experience possible, but to see what the publisher does with its suspended microtransactions once the hype has blown over.
