Earlier this year, Reddit user ‘Sir_Bumfrey_Diggles’ announced that Fallout New Vegas was being built within Fallout 4. The aptly named Fallout 4: New Vegas mod seems to be coming along nicely, with an update showing that it’s taking full advantage of the weather system. Unfortunately, still no snow in time for Christmas.
The project is being led by Metamoth, who detailed the recent progress in the team’s latest ModDB devlog. Rather than utilising the weather system for weather specifically, it is actually being used to to create dynamic lighting. This is with the aim to “make the world feel much more like one with an ever-changing atmosphere.”
World building has continued, with more details being littered around, however Metamoth retains that the team’s focus is still “polishing the areas in and around our current milestone target, Goodsprings.” This is the same area that was showcased in the original 7-minute video, and looked absolutely stunning, by the way.
Instead, much of the team is focusing on the “smaller clutter” and details that never ended up getting translated from Fallout New Vegas or Fallout 3 over to the most recent sequel.
There is currently no word on when this mod will be released considering it is a huge, but worthy, undertaking of a still-sizeable world even if it is smaller than the mainline titles. For those of you wanting to help the project and join the team, it seems that they are recruiting. Simply fill in the application form and keep your fingers crossed.
KitGuru Says: Fallout 4 seemed a little lacking in the RPG department, but still introduced beautiful graphics and mechanics like its crafting system. To see those potentially make their way to the amazing world of Fallout New Vegas is quite exciting. Meanwhile, there are many mods out there for the original game that can cater to just that. Are you excited for Fallout 4: New Vegas?
All hail the mod making men!
I’ve been watching this for a while, and I can’t wait for when it comes out! Realize, everyone, that this video is almost 7 months old! Definitely check out the updates since then, it’s amazing!
NV was better than 3, I just can’t understand why it didn’t got the love it deserved.
I mean just for your actions impacting the factions and the world in general it was superior as an experience. The only thing that I likes most in 3 was that it had more urban exploring.
