AMD unveils specs for Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 3 APUs with Vega graphics

Back during the Pre-CES press day earlier this month, AMD unveiled its CPU roadmap for the year, confirming that we would be getting the first Ryzen ‘Raven Ridge' APUs quite soon. At the time, specific specs for the Ryzen 5 2400G and the Ryzen 3 2200G weren't announced, but this week, that changed.

These new APUs, codenamed Raven Ridge, will be powered by Ryzen desktop processors with Radeon Vega graphics built in. According to AMD's new product pages, the Ryzen 5 variant will come with four cores, eight threads, a max CPU boost speed of 3.9GHz and a max GPU clock speed of 1250MHz. There will be 11 graphics compute units on this version, 6MB of L3/L2 cache and a 45W to 65W TDP.

The Ryzen 3 2200G on the other hand will have four cores and four threads, a 3.7GHz max CPU boost speed, eight compute units, an 1100MHz maximum GPU clock, alongside the same amount of cache and TDP.

Both of these APUs are expected to launch in Q1. At CES this month, we learned that the Ryzen 5 2400G will have a suggested retail price of $169, meanwhile the Ryzen 3 2200G will have a suggested price of $99.

KitGuru Says: AMD's Ryzen APUs will be launching in February, so it won't be long before we can check out the performance on these. Are any of you currently in the market for an upgrade?

  1. I want a laptop with the 2400G ! Should be priced pretty nicely.

we already upgraded one of the the systems in our design studio to AM4 platform and use an athlon x4 950 as a placeholder for those ryzen APUs, I can’t wait to see the reviews to decide which one we will get.

  3. Looking forward too these. Been a fan of APUs since when I got an A8-7600 years ago.

Should be good for a HTPC.

  4. RYZEN 2 SHIT WILL NEVER BEAT i7 8700K
maybe only in CINEBENCH cause have more cores

    AMD always sucks

  5. I can’t tell if you’re making fun of people who actually say that, or if you really mean it.

Do not think the man has read or understood the article ..

When comparing mobile and desktop devices, it does not seem so.

Or, the man is angry because he has paid too much for a Intel CPU.
Which is now be beaten on price, performance and power consumption.

On the desktop market and especially the gamer market, however, AMD also strikes Intel.
Not with SC perfomens, but the Ryzen 1600 is a hits, when it comes to newer games that use the many threads.

It’s also great that you can play without having to shut everything down in the backround.
With so many cores, you can let many things run in the background. without it going beyond the performance in play. It’s not possible with Intel’s CPU, on the same price tag.

It also costs well under half of what a corresponding Intel CPU cost. Especially when you think of the much cheaper Motherboards. Which can be used the next 2-3 generations of AMD processor.

You can either save the money or use them on a better graphics card as Nvidia 10×0-PCIe 3.0.
    OR M2 SSD and Fast Ram. . , ………………….

  7. For an extr $70, the 2400 seems a no brainer. Pre-order to avoid disappointment.

  8. Yeah, and where did Intel get that extra performance from? By making their CPUs more vulnerable to hackers. Not too smart, really. I can also build a go-kart that’ll out accelerate your sports car, but it won’t have any doors, roof, or comfortable seats. Did I really win? Not really. I’ll take AMD as the ‘Smarter’ choice.

  9. LOL, the 2600X is what will compete with the 8700k, it will lose to the 8700k by maybe 5% and 7% in single thread, it will be much closer than the 1600/x… and MUCH MUCH cheaper and only an idiot would chose the 8700k. Price/Perf is king for the vast majority of PC gamers, take your intel fanboying elsewhere.

  10. stupid!
    so INTEL will released 9700K
and ryzen is like shiiit again

    cmon AMTARD
if you are AMD fanboy, dont be a blind fanboy

INTEL still better in performance and AMD has no chance, but AMD is better in price of performance

    WINner vs WINnner
    victory is victory

the losers always look for reasons to cover up their defeat by accusing the opponent of cheating

    and

Fanboys always defend their idol company fault
    RETARD
    stop fanboyism

  12. Which person here sounds like a fanboy:
The guy who shouts about Intel always being better than AMD, or the people who will simply buy the best CPU for their price range?

  13. Well, a burgler might be a ‘winner’ after breaking into a house and stealing stuff without getting caught once or twice by your standards. But eventually, they WILL be caught. And at that point, they lose it all. I’ll take AMD’s customer-focussed, ethical business approach over a cheating, under-handed Intel thank you very much.
